A mobile bike corral (see link to in-depth story) will be used by the City of Kalamazoo through mid-October to find best locations for permanent bike racks in downtown Kalamazoo. So, when you ride your bike to shop or dine during the Kalamazoo Commuter Challenge (more info here!), and throughout the Summer and early Fall, look for the bike corral, park your bike, and record your parking on the QR code affixed to the corral. Join the collective effort to make practical cycling trips to downtown more convenient.
Starting early this summer we will get to enjoy riding along a protected bike lane on Lovell St between Pitcher, to the east, and Oakland, to the west. Following a successful pilot project in 2022 (see link to YouTube video of a ride along the bike lane), a more permanent two-way bike lane will connect the east and west sides of downtown Kalamazoo. Check it out and be sure to log your ride with your downloaded Love to Ride app (yes, that’s a link).
Check out this page for more information about the Lovell St bike lane.
Ever at the ready to help make Kalamazoo become a cycling conducive community, Open Roads will have open shop hours on Thursdays and Fridays all summer.
Youth, 18 and under, can avail themselves of free replacement bike parts and coaching on how best to use those parts to repair their bikes. (See this link for more information on The Fix.)
