We've worked hard to keep our rating options simple and intuitive for users. The 4 rating options we use broadly relate to the established Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) framework.
Users are prompted to lean towards feeling safe or unsafe rather than neutral, providing more definitive feedback on their comfort and perceived safety levels while cycling in different traffic conditions. This approach helps to identify specific areas of concern and supports efforts to improve cycling infrastructure and safety. β
At Love to Ride, our mission is to make the world a place in which all people can gain the benefits of biking and get around by bike safely, confidently, and comfortably. One of the ways we deliver on our mission is to translate rider data and feedback into useful views for transportation planners and professionals. These views help ensure informed decisions are made and the impact of changes can be monitored.
We prioritise user privacy while utilising rider data in collaboration with trusted partners. Our privacy framework ensures that user data is anonymised and aggregated, preventing individual identification. We adhere to principles of transparency, allowing users to control their data, including opting out and requesting data deletion. Only essential data is collected, used solely for purposes consented to by users, and robust security measures protect its confidentiality.
For our comfort and heatmap visualisations, we focus on aggregate movement, exclude trip start and end points, and apply k-anonymity factors to maintain privacy. Non-bike trip data is generalised after 30 days, and customer users are restricted from viewing data in periods shorter than one week. Data is securely stored and encrypted on AWS, ensuring it remains protected in transit and at rest. For more information, please refer to our full Privacy Policy on our website.
