Mary FoleyHey Simon, I just saw that you injured your knee. Take it nice and easy. Rest, ice, compression, and elevate. Hope you are feeling better soon. XX ;)
Simon GreenIt is Nathan! Buxted, although a smallish village has a big history. It was at the centre of the Weald iron industry in 16th Century. The very first iron cannon was cast here in 1543. Also my village is believed to be named after the charcoal burners - the charcoal was used to power the blast furnaces. The Weald is heavily wooded (for charcoal) and the rock is iron stone.
Nathan CaldwellGood to see you cycling! In a month we'll be cruising the Douro🍷
Simon GreenNathan, Hope you have a great time on the Douro. Look out for the boat we were on - The Royal Barge (Spirit of Chartwell).
Simon GreenHi Nathan, I think the motorcycling round dirt tracks and off-roading in India messed my knee up a bit (Patellar Tendonitis). I've been having to rest the leg but after over three weeks this was my first real cycle ride. It's still not quite there so I took this ride really gentle and no real hills.
Nathan CaldwellSmart move to rest your knee. India is not for sissies!(verified by boats)
Simon GreenI want the knee to be okay for the Way of the Roses cycle ride I'm doing in May. I need to make sure it's good but not push it to hard at the moment. And you're right "India is not for Wimps" and definitely where we went on the Enfields!!! - A bit off the beaten track
RB BB Wishing you a swift recovery for your Roses ride. 🤞
RB BB My first bike Simon, ended up being a Ducati Pantah 500mk1. Went abroad ,the TT, etc 120,000 miles over 12years . A phenomenal first bike.
RB BB A lovely bike Simon! I always wanted a Laverda Jota. The 180° version naturally. It was almost my 1st bike when I passed my motorcycle test. Unfortunately, it was too tall and top heavy for an inexperienced teenager in the late 70's .
RB BB The tornado is a very innovative design, especially the rear radiators. I liked the design . Unfortunately, I am biased, I like air cooled unfaired motorcycles. As a mechanical engineer it's always about the engine mechanically and visually.
Simon GreenThanks RB for the well-wishes. Great to hear your motorcycling experiences. I'm going to sell the Tornado this year after owning it since 2006 😢 but I've enjoyed owning it!!
