Lexington's bike trails take you from vibrant downtown to horse country. With nearly 290 miles of bike facilities, including 65 miles of shared-use paths, 94 miles of on-road bike facilities, plus 120 miles of bike-friendly streets, we encourage you to go explore Lexington and the wonderful Bluegrass region.
Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization has produced a bike map to help you find the best places to bike, including the Legacy Trail, Town Branch Trail, Town Branch Commons Trail and Brighton Rail Trail.

For those looking to buy a bike, Pedal Power is a popular full-service bicycle shop near downtown Lexington that also provides educational clinics every other Saturday morning. Another option is Broomwagon, a bike and repair shop that strives to be a welcoming shop for riders of all levels.Â

The North Lexington YMCA and Marriott Griffin Gate Resort Golf Shop both offer bike rentals near the beginning of the Legacy Trail for those interested in trying biking.Â
University of Kentucky students and faculty also have choices, like Big Blue Cycles, which allows students in campus housing to use one of their 150 bikes for free if they commit not to bring a car to campus.
The Brighton Trail, a shared-use path stretching 3.8 miles, is a great route for new riders as it connects neighborhoods, parks, shopping, and entertainment opportunities in Hamburg. Another great ride is the Legacy Trail, a 10-mile shared-use path with 2 miles of protected bike lanes connecting downtown Lexington to the Kentucky Horse Park.
More experianced riders could consider cycling beyond the trails to explore Lexington's rural countryside. Rural routes offer scenic views and new adventures!
