Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has produced a map of local cycle routes in Solihull, including dedicated cycle lanes, shared use paths and other bike-friendly routes. You can view and download the map here.
This ÂŁ17 million programme, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) saw improvements made to 69km of existing footpaths and cycle networks and 23km of new footways and improved access for cyclists. Many of the routes also link up to existing green spaces and sustainable transport options. The project has also improved the habitat value of 56 hectares of parks and open spaces for the benefit of people and wildlife â more than 90 football pitches! Find a route and download a map here.

Future developments
To support its transport strategy âSolihull Connectedâ and wider decarbonisation policies, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council have adopted a Cycling and Walking Strategy, including a 10-year Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) setting out how new cycling and walking infrastructure will be delivered within the borough.
Based on where the highest propensity for cycling is anticipated, the following three primary cycle corridors have been identified as short-term priorities for implementation and design work on them has already begun:

Solihull has four community cycling hubs and a recreational cycling programme from each hub! Various cycling activities and rides are scheduled throughout Spring to Autumn. You can borrow bikes and helmets to join in if you do not have one or if itâs more convenient than bringing your own. A great place for traffic-free cycling is Tudor Grange Park cycle track, the brainchild of Olympic silver medallist Harry Reynolds. Whether you're in pro-training or just looking to have a bit of fun, the 1km figure of eight state of the art track is ideal and free for everyone to use! Make sure you check the cycle track is available before you turn up.
