Mary FoleyLots of great riding, Steve. How was the visit with the ortho doc?
Mary FoleySurgery would probably mean non weight bearing for several weeks. Tough decision. I did not have surgery for my clavicle (probably a different type of fracture) and it healed crooked (probably because I was not very good at maintaining my non weight bearing instructions). Fortunately, it did not really affect my ROM. If you ever want to sleep on your left side again, you will probably need the surgery.
Steve RankinNon-union clavicle fracture. Now I have to decide whether to have surgery. Will see what I can/can't do over the summer.
Steve Rankin I'll wait until fall, since I'd rather use the arm for the summer and see how it goes. Having cared for many post-op patients is different than being the patient - this is harder. Reading up now on excising the loose fragment rather than trying to reattach it, since it may not be big enough to hold screws. Having coffee today with a friend who has had distal clavicle excision.
