You’re spoilt for choice when choosing to ride in the Waikato.

All Districts in the region are well served with many cycle paths, cycle trails and bike parks to explore.

Take a leisurely short ride, a full on blast on a mountain bike track or an adventure over several days exploring or combinations of these - we have it all in the Waikato.

Local rides for new cyclist

The Hauraki Rail Trail is a Grade One trail suitable for riders of all ages, fitness and abilities, with its gentle terrain and abundance of cafés, restaurants and accommodation offers a memorable journey across 197 km of track comprising of 5 sections. It Is perfect for a short ride or a 5 day journey.

The Te Awa River Ride is one of the most accessible and scenic concrete path trails winding Its way for 65 km from Ngaruawahia to Lake Karapiro. There are many access points so the trail can be done In sections.

Te Miro Mountain Bike Park
The park has a wide range of trails from Grade Two family trails through to Downhill trails and set of BMX jumps.

Craters Mountain Bike Park
Craters Mountain Bike Park is a purpose-built mountain bike park located only a short distance from Taupo town, with trails ranging from children’s entry level to technical cross country and downhill trails.
